Alex M. Winsor

I am a neuroethologist studying how nervous systems selectively acquire sensory information to guide behavior. My doctoral research at the University of Massachusetts Amherst uses jumping spiders, whose vision is divided across specialized sets of eyes, to study gaze shifts and prey recognition. My postdoctoral research at Columbia University will use fruit flies to study how visual information is processed by neural circuits that control escape behavior.
