I am a neuroethologist studying how nervous systems selectively acquire sensory information to guide behavior. My postdoctoral research at Columbia University uses fruit flies to study how visual information is processed by neural circuits that control escape behavior. My doctoral research at the University of Massachusetts Amherst used jumping spiders, whose vision is divided across specialized sets of eyes, to study gaze shifts and object recognition.
